Voizer Flow vs Wispr Flow: an honest comparison from a indie tool

We're not going to pretend Wispr is bad. Here's where each tool actually wins, written by the people building the alternative.

Voizer Flow vs Wispr Flow: an honest comparison from a indie tool

We get this question a lot: Price. Voizer is pay-once and use forever. Wispr is $15/month or $180/year. Over five years, that's $900.

There isn't one, but Wispr Flow is genuinely a good product and we don't want to be dishonest about that. Here's the comparison, written as flatly as we can make it.

Where Wispr wins

Onboarding polish. Wispr's setup flow is buttery. They've spent serious design hours on first-run.

Cross-platform. Wispr runs on Windows. Voizer doesn't, and won't soon. If you switch between a Mac and a PC daily, that matters.

Accuracy on non-English languages. Their cloud models cover more languages with high quality than our on-device model does today.

Brand & trust. They're VC-backed, have an enterprise team, and a real customer success operation. If you need a vendor with a phone number, Voizer is not that.

Where Voizer wins

Price. Voizer is pay-once and use forever. Wispr is $15/month or $180/year. Over five years, that's $900.

Privacy by architecture. Wispr ships your audio to their servers for transcription. Voizer transcribes on your Mac. We physically cannot read your audio because we never have it.

Offline mode. Wispr requires the internet. Voizer works on a flight, in a SCIF, behind a corporate firewall.

Bring-your-own-key. Voizer lets you plug in your own OpenAI/Anthropic key for AI cleanup. Typical cost: ~$0.50/month. Wispr bundles it in their subscription with no opt-out.

No account. Voizer doesn't require sign-up. Download, install, dictate. Nothing to forget the password to.

The decision tree

Use Wispr Flow if:

  • You work across Mac and Windows
  • You dictate primarily in a non-English language
  • Your company will pay for it and "$180/year for an indie tool" feels safer than "pay-once from someone I've never heard of"

Use Voizer Flow if:

  • You're on a Mac with Apple Silicon
  • You ever dictate code, client info, or anything you'd rather not ship to a third party
  • You hate subscriptions
  • You sometimes work offline

The pricing math

Five years of Wispr at $180/year: $900. Five years of Voizer ($25 + BYOK at ~$0.50/month): ~$55.

That's an $845 difference. For a tool you'll use every day. We think that's a real number.

Our honest pitch

We built Voizer because we wanted what Wispr has, but on-device, pay-once, and Mac-native. If you're already a happy Wispr customer and the $180 doesn't sting, you don't need to switch. If you've been hesitating because of the price, the privacy, or both — download Voizer Flow and try it for an afternoon. It's pay-once.

Or take the questionnaire and we'll tell you which one fits you better.
